Where To Publish tab

Aside from the content and publishing intervals, another essential part of your campaign is the destination of the posts. These are the walls, groups, pages, and boards that will receive the posts you created.

To inform the campaign where you want your posts to get published, you need to navigate to the “Where To Publish” tab of the campaign.

The ‘Where To Publish’ tab is available in all three types of campaigns. If you haven’t selected any destinations or destination lists, or if the destination list you selected is empty and you have started the campaign, you will see the below error on the Campaign Overview tab.

For older accounts, the Where to Publish tab has the Destinations and Destination Lists sub-tab.

Meanwhile, for new accounts, what you will see on the Where to Publish tab will be similar to the image below wherein there are no Destinations and Destination Lists tabs.  In order to get that view with the sub-tabs, you need to put a check on ‘Show Advanced Destinations Options’ which is at the lower-left corner of the screen.

Destinations Sub-tab

By definition, “destination” refers to the place where something is to be sent.  And in the topic of social media, is where you publish or share your post. With this sub-tab, it will display all of your accounts added in SM Tasker which are possible destinations for your posts.

This tab is useful if your campaign is set to publish to a few accounts only. You can simply tick the checkboxes for those accounts on the left side, which means you would be publishing to these accounts.

Then, on the right side, you will notice the columns for Groups, Pages/Boards, and Wall/Profile. This is where you would specify to which particular area of that account would you like the post to be sent.

The selections you made will be tallied (see items highlighted in yellow on the image below) and this will give you an overview of how many destinations will the campaign publish to.

Destination Lists Sub-tab

A Destination List is a set of destinations. It can be comprised of different social networks such as LinkedIn (walls, groups, and pages), Twitter (walls), Pinterest boards and so on that are centered on a specific market or niche you are working on.  You can add as many destinations as you want in a single Destination List and use it for the Campaigns that you will be creating for the purpose of automating the posts on your selected social networks. This is extremely helpful if you are publishing the post to a lot of accounts/pages/groups.

Just click on ADD DESTINATION LIST to create one, then think of a destination name that is identifiable to your niche. You may also add tags to make it easier to spot the destination list for a particular niche.

If you want to edit a specific destination list and make changes regarding the pages/boards, groups, or walls/profiles to publish to, you can simply click on the name of the destination list, and a pop-up window will show which will let you modify it.

  • For every Social Profile you’ve selected, you can pick a specific destination, such as walls, groups, pages/boards, or stories.
  • For Groups, and Pages/Boards, just click on the respective link, it will open a smaller window where you can select the respective groups, pages, or boards, and just close the box when you are done.

The pop-up window has sub-tabs: Settings is where you mainly configure which destinations are selected, as well as the areas of the accounts to publish to. Auto Select Destinations on the other have the following:

(insert screenshot here)

  • Auto Select new groups for chosen accounts. This would automatically add newly joined groups of a particular account that is included in your Destination List.  This would save you a great deal of time as compared to manually editing the list and selecting the groups.
  • You also have an option to auto-select destinations based on tags. If an account has the tag you specified on the textbox, then this destination list will automatically select that account for publishing (the checkbox on the left side). You can also choose whether to auto-select the destination if it has any of the specified tags, OR if it has all of the specified tags.

There are also a few more options on the pop-up window for the Destination List.

    1. Select All – all destinations will be selected
    2. Select Destinations by Tag – this will auto-select the pages/groups containing the tag you specified
    3. Select None – this will reset your selection
    4. Select All Walls/Profiles – all profiles/walls checkboxes will be ticked
    5. Select From All Groups – this will populate a list of all groups for all accounts and you can select which ones to publish to.
    6. Select From All Pages/Boards – this will populate a list of all pages/boards for all accounts and you can select which ones to publish to.
    7. Import – you can export the selected from another destination list, and once you import the same file to another destination list, the destinations will then be automatically selected.
    8. Export – the selected destinations will be exported to a CSV file.

After you have added a destination list, go back to the “Where To Publish” tab and make sure there is a tick on the checkbox next to the destination list you want to use for your campaign.
