Make the sequence explain what the client is approving
Images to PDF: Put a Client Approval Pack in Order
A client should not have to reconstruct a presentation from filenames. Put the decision in context, show the relevant artwork in a sensible order, and end with the next action. This guide follows a tea-shop packaging approval pack, using mixed images and existing PDF pages to explain how source sorting, inclusion, page rotation and uniform margins work together.
Use the Creator PDF Toolkit to assemble the visual pack locally. It creates new raster pages from existing material, rather than preserving PDF text, links, forms or editable design objects. The objective here is an understandable approval reference, with the originals retained for actual design revisions.
Write the approval sequence before sorting the files
Consider a designer preparing packaging references for an independent tea shop. The client needs to approve the front label, check the back label, see the package on a shelf and compare a material sample. The designer also has an existing three-page brief: project context, an internal costing sheet and the next-step checklist. Sending all those files loose would make the client choose the reading order and decide which material is actually for approval.
Define six roles for the pack: context, front artwork, back artwork, shelf view, material detail and next steps. The sequence answers what is being reviewed, what it looks like, how it works in context and what response is needed. The internal costing sheet is not part of this handoff. An alternate front label can stay available for comparison without appearing in the proposed approval sequence. These are editorial choices, not automatic classifications by the tool.
Put any essential explanatory text into the prepared source pages before assembly. The toolkit does not write captions, add approval checkboxes or design a new closing slide. If the existing checklist still says review the attached files without identifying the decision, revise that source elsewhere first. Use the carousel maker when you need to compose new text-and-image slides rather than simply arrange finished material on pages.
Agree how the client will respond outside the PDF. A useful request might ask for front-label choice, back-label corrections and material preference, each referring to the pack revision. This exported document is a visual reference, not an interactive approval form or a signature workflow. Clear questions in the source and a stable sequence reduce avoidable confusion without pretending that assembling images establishes formal approval or changes the underlying design files.
Prepare a complete batch with recognizable source identities
For this example, gather the three-page brief PDF and five still images: front label, back label, shelf photograph, material photograph and alternate front label. That is six files producing eight workspace records. Use filenames that distinguish sides and revisions in your source folder. Do not rely on two similar thumbnails to tell the approved front from an older option. Source identity matters more than a neat alphabetical list when design revisions look almost identical.
The accepted inputs are local PDFs and still JPG, PNG or WebP images. A batch allows eight files, 20 MiB per file, 60 MiB total and 40 combined pages; still images must stay within 25 megapixels and 8192 pixels per side. Animation and invalid content are rejected. These are the assembly workspace limits, not specifications for a client portal, print supplier or social platform. Prepare a supported still copy elsewhere if a source uses another format.
Choose the entire set in one import because a successful new selection replaces the workspace batch rather than appending another source. A cancelled or invalid selection retains the old workspace. After import, inspect filenames and the original page numbers instead of assuming the operating system file-picker order created the intended narrative. If you forgot the material photograph, gather the complete selection again and expect to rebuild the arrangement after the successful replacement.
Password-protected or encrypted PDFs and documents containing AcroForm or XFA forms are rejected. Obtain an unlocked flat source through the normal project workflow; there is no password bypass. Visible annotations are not copied, so incorporate an essential client correction into an appropriate prepared source before importing it. The original files remain unchanged throughout local processing. Keep the editable labels and authoritative brief separately rather than treating this visual pack as the project master.
Separate source pages from current workspace positions
A source page number is a stable reference to where a PDF page originated. Current position describes where its record sits in the workspace now. In the tea-shop brief, the next-step checklist is original page three even after you move it near the end of the pack. The internal costing sheet remains original page two if you place it after that checklist. Never rename those source facts in a handoff note just to match the current sequence.
Each record also has an include checkbox and can be selected for preview. Inclusion determines membership in the PDF and image ZIP. Preview selection determines which finished page you inspect and can save individually. Neither decision determines order by itself. An excluded record can remain visible between included records, so the final PDF page number may differ from that record’s workspace position. Read the included sequence, not just the position beside one thumbnail.
Use the up and down controls to arrange records without needing a drag gesture. Move the front and back labels beside each other, then follow them with the shelf and material images. Check source names after each substantial move. A useful first pass establishes the main reading sequence; a second pass verifies the exact revision on each page. Separating those passes helps catch the wrong label side even when the overall narrative already feels convincing.
Exclude an undecided alternative when you want to inspect it later, and use Remove when the record no longer belongs in this workspace. Removed records are no longer represented in the remaining-record CSV. The source file on your computer is not deleted or edited by either action. Keeping the internal costing sheet excluded is a workflow choice for this example, not a substitute for checking every final download before sending material to the client.
Build and verify the six-page approval order
Arrange the eight remaining records into this workspace sequence: brief page one, front label, back label, shelf photograph, material photograph, brief page three, brief page two and alternate front label. The first six are the intended client pack; the last two are excluded references. With this arrangement, workspace positions one through six happen to match the six exported PDF pages. That convenient match is the result of your arrangement, not a general export rule.
Apply the range 1-6 explicitly to include the first six current positions. Then read the checkbox state beside every record. A range such as 1-3,6 would instead select context, front, back and next steps, leaving out both photographic views. This can be useful for a shorter decision pack, but only when that is the intended revision. The tool cannot infer that material evidence is mandatory merely because you included it in an earlier export.
Ranges use current positions and retain visual order, not the order of numbers you type. For example, 5,2-3,3 identifies positions two, three and five once each; it does not move position five to the front or duplicate position three. Empty, invalid and out-of-bounds entries are rejected. Use All or None for a fresh starting selection when convenient, and make individual checkbox corrections after checking the visible source identities.
If you later move the internal costing sheet to position two, the same range 1-6 no longer represents the same pack. Re-evaluate inclusion after reordering or removing records rather than treating an old range string as a saved selection recipe. Before export, say the sequence aloud in client terms: context, front, back, shelf, material, next steps. Compare that with the checked records and their original source pages; both the narrative and the evidence should match.
Check sequence and membership together
Arrange the pack around the client decision
Move finished source pages into reading order, apply inclusion, and verify source identities before choosing the final layout.
Fit portrait artwork and landscape photographs consistently
Select a single output page format for the whole pack. A4 portrait, US Letter, square, portrait 4:5 and landscape 16:9 are available geometries, not native destination checks. For this trial, choose portrait 4:5 at 720 by 900 points. It can give the label artwork a consistent page shape while leaving room around a landscape shelf photograph. The photograph does not force its own page to become a separate landscape size.
Margins run from zero to 72 whole points and start at 18. At the chosen 720 by 900 size, 18-point margins leave a 684 by 864 point content area. A 600 by 900 portrait label fits at 576 by 864 points. A 1600 by 900 shelf photograph fits at 684 by approximately 384.75 points. Both retain their proportions, but they occupy different amounts of the same outer page.
The whole rotated source is fitted without cropping, on white. Existing source borders count as part of that source, so a label exported with large surrounding whitespace may look unexpectedly small after fitting. Raising the margin only adds more surrounding space. If a photograph needs tighter framing or a label needs less built-in border, prepare a separate source copy with the image resizer or revise the design export before rebuilding the complete batch.
Inspect the selected final-page preview for each type of content, not just a thumbnail of the portrait front. A balanced label page does not establish that the back-label ingredients or shelf caption are readable. Native PDF CropBox geometry supplies the PDF viewport, so this is not a bleed or trim preparation system for the printer. Use the visual pack for approval discussion and keep print-production files on their own properly checked delivery path.
Rotate for reading and test the rendering before approval
A rotation action adds 90 degrees clockwise to the source orientation, including any rotation already defined in a PDF. Use it when the material photograph or back-label image is sideways, then read a known word to verify the result. Rotation changes how the source fits within the fixed target page; it does not rotate the whole batch into a new output format or modify the source file stored in your project folder.
Choose the generated page longest edge from 640 to 2400 pixels, with 1600 as the initial setting. A portrait 4:5 page at 1600 is 1280 by 1600 pixels, including its white margins. Small label ingredients occupy only part of that grid. Read the least prominent required line in a downloaded trial. A larger edge may help render existing detail, but enlarging a small original cannot supply missing characters or correct an already blurred design export.
PNG is the initial image format and ignores the quality control. JPG images use a setting from 20 to 95, starting at 85. Compare the back-label text and the material texture separately if JPG is needed for the client’s image copies. A photograph that remains useful at a particular quality does not prove that the tiny ingredients list passes. The page-image quality guide provides a fuller resolution and format comparison.
The new PDF uses PNG page renderings independently of the JPG or PNG ZIP choice. Lowering JPG quality is not a way to compress that PDF. Source text becomes pixels, with no selectable-text, link, bookmark, attachment or signature preservation and no OCR. A URL printed on the next-step checklist is only visible artwork here, not a retained clickable link. Supply any needed response address in the accompanying client message as well.
Send the included pack and identify standalone alternatives
Build PDF exports every included record in workspace order, producing clean page artwork without a watermark or tool footer. For the worked arrangement, verify six pages with the context first and next steps last. Download images ZIP uses those included pages too, adding numbered PNG or JPG files, a page-list CSV and README. Reopen both deliverables if the client needs both; a successful PDF check does not verify an archive downloaded before the last order change.
To ask a colleague about the alternate front without changing the proposed client pack, select that excluded record and use Save preview image. The selected page can be saved even when its include checkbox is off. Label this standalone comparison clearly in your handoff folder. It is not automatically added to the batch, and the client should not be expected to infer whether an extra image is an approved seventh page or an unchosen alternative.
The CSV lists all remaining workspace records with included flags, positions, source pages, rotations, output names and settings. It therefore explains why the alternate and costing sheet remain in the workspace but not in the client artwork. Copy summary provides the settings and included-page mapping for a concise internal note. These records describe the build; they are not interactive approvals, editable design sources or files that can restore the arrangement automatically.
There is an 80 MiB output-batch cap and an explicit error when it is exceeded. The tool does not silently fall back to original files. If necessary, reduce the included delivery or choose a smaller longest edge only after testing label readability. Finish any new rendering before downloading, because changes to settings, batch or reset cancel pending work. Keep earlier downloads separate so an old six-page file cannot be mistaken for the latest six-page file.
Freeze a clear revision without confusing it with a project save
Review the final client folder as a recipient would. Open the PDF, confirm six pages, compare front and back identities, and read the next-step request. Check that the internal costing page and alternate front do not appear in the included artwork. Read the image filenames beside the CSV mapping if individual pages are being sent. A correct page count alone cannot catch an incorrect substitute page, so verify content as well as quantity.
Give the handoff a revision name in your own filing system and keep a copy of the accompanying approval request. Store originals, editable artwork and review derivatives separately. There is no autosave or JSON project save, and neither the CSV nor copied summary reopens a session. If the client requests a change next week, return to the authoritative sources, prepare the revised complete batch and use the earlier mapping as a reference for a deliberate rebuild.
The destination selector supplies context only, whether the pack is associated with LinkedIn, Instagram or another listed platform. It does not validate a native upload, change page presets or send files anywhere. For a separate image delivery budget, use the bulk image compressor with another visual check. For review dates and responsibilities, the content calendar generator can help record the next task without changing this approval artwork.
Keep client communication and any later supported SMTasker account routine distinct from this local assembly step. The toolkit does not connect an account, hand the PDF into SMTasker or publish it automatically. Its contribution is a comprehensible visual sequence and a traceable mapping back to unchanged sources. Return to the free tools directory when another preparation task remains, and send only the revision you have actually reviewed for this decision.
Questions about Images to PDF Page Order
Can I type page numbers in the order I want to export them?
The range field chooses current positions; it does not rearrange them. A range such as 5,2-3 exports the included records in their visual order, two, three and five. Move records with the up and down controls to establish the intended sequence, then apply and verify inclusion.
Will portrait and landscape sources keep different PDF page sizes?
No. All generated pages use the one target format you choose. Whole rotated sources fit proportionally within its margins without cropping, so different source ratios leave different amounts of white space. Inspect each finished layout and keep print-production requirements separate from this visual approval copy.
Does importing another image append it to my existing pack?
No. A successful import replaces the batch, so select the complete source set together. A cancelled or invalid replacement retains the prior workspace. Download useful outputs and mapping first, then rebuild deliberately after a successful replacement. There is no saved project or CSV reimport to restore the arrangement.
