Explain where the partnership belongs
YouTube Media Kit for Long-Form and Shorts Placements
A YouTube partnership is easier to assess when the buyer understands where their product belongs in the video. Show the viewing task, the placement and the production behind it, then add figures that genuinely describe the relevant audience and work. Channel size alone cannot explain that fit.
Our hypothetical example is a workshop-organization channel considering a partnership with a storage-accessory business. The creator makes detailed setup videos and shorter demonstrations of individual storage decisions. No campaign results in this guide are presented as real. Start your document in the Creator Media Kit Builder with YouTube selected. YouTube provides context for the document, not a native template or specification: all page layouts remain selectable, and the builder does not retrieve channel data.
Describe the placement before selling the channel
Begin by distinguishing the work a partner could commission. A dedicated product video, a demonstration within a broader project and a brief spoken mention create different viewing experiences. For the workshop channel, a drawer organizer might appear during a detailed storage setup because its use helps answer the video’s main question. Explain that relationship. Do not rely on a broad phrase such as brand integration to communicate how much attention the product would actually receive.
Identify the viewer’s job in that episode. Someone reorganizing a workshop may need to judge access, visibility, fit or the order of frequently used items. The proposed product should help demonstrate one of those decisions. This makes your pitch more concrete than promising exposure to an enthusiastic community. It also gives you a reason to decline a product that would interrupt the project without adding a useful observation for the person watching.
Separate a channel-published placement from production for the buyer’s own use. The same filming skill can support both, but an asset-only assignment does not automatically include publication to your subscribers. Likewise, a published integration does not automatically give the buyer unlimited rights to reuse your footage. State which type of work the kit introduces so a person forwarding it internally does not accidentally describe a broader package than you intended.
Give your introduction a practical boundary. The creator can show how an accessory works in a particular cabinet and explain the arrangement choices; that does not establish compatibility with every workshop or prove a universal productivity improvement. A buyer can still value a clear, carefully produced demonstration. Keeping the claim close to the visible task makes the proposal easier to scope and gives the later evidence pages a clear purpose.
Make a long-form sample useful without playing the video
Choose a long-form example that reveals your explanation process, not merely an attractive finished workshop. A useful sample might show how the creator grouped small accessories, checked drawer access and revised an arrangement that hid frequently used items. The kit should summarize the question and the decision. A still of the open drawer can anchor that explanation, while the surrounding text tells the reader what changed during the episode and why.
Include the actual location of the relevant moment in your own work description when it helps a reviewer find it later. A timestamp should point to a real passage you have checked, not an invented sponsor slot. Explain what the reviewer would see there: a product demonstration, a transition into the project, or a clear close-up of a constraint. The builder does not create chapter navigation, embed a player or make the exported artwork interactive.
Describe your contribution and the conditions of production. Researching the arrangement, presenting, recording close views and editing the explanation may all be separate responsibilities. Name collaborators where appropriate and distinguish a commissioned job from a self-funded example. If the sample contains a product from a business you have not worked with, do not turn its presence into an implied partnership. The evidence is the work itself, not a relationship that did not exist.
Explain a trade-off the sample handled well. Perhaps the clearest drawer view required removing an unrelated object, or the narration needed to distinguish measured clearance from personal preference. That detail helps the buyer assess your judgment. Avoid describing every shot. Select the decision most relevant to their brief, then state what the sample does not cover, such as extended-use testing or installation in a different cabinet system.
Give Shorts a separate creative and measurement role
A Short should earn its place in the offer rather than appearing as an automatic extra beside every long video. The workshop creator could use one to demonstrate a single retrieval problem or compare two drawer arrangements visually. That is a narrower task than explaining a complete setup. Describe what a standalone viewer can learn without the longer episode, and identify whether you are proposing a fresh recording or an adaptation of existing footage.
Keep work samples from the two formats identifiable. A fast demonstration may prove concise visual explanation without proving that you can sustain a longer technical walkthrough. A thorough long video may show planning and patience without demonstrating a strong standalone Short. Give each sample a clear title, purpose and contribution. If you only offer one format, it is better to describe it confidently than to imply an established capability you have not yet developed.
YouTube distinguishes Shorts views from engaged views. Views include starts and replays, while engaged views describe viewers who continued watching under that metric’s definition. Preserve the exact measure from your source when presenting a Short. Do not silently substitute a larger views total for an engaged-views series in a historical comparison. Explain which measure the buyer is reading rather than treating every count called a view as the same evidence of attention.
Compare like work with like work where possible. Keep Shorts and long-form observations in separate summaries instead of producing one blended figure that obscures both. A Short’s purpose may be showing one visible use, while the longer episode supports a considered explanation. Neither sample alone demonstrates that viewers moved between them or purchased the product. Describe those outcomes only when you have appropriate evidence, not because the two videos were planned as a package.
Choose channel figures that answer an audience question
Start the audience page by deciding what the buyer needs to know. A storage-accessory business may care whether your recent viewing comes from relevant project content and whether the audience geography suits its availability. Use the figures you can actually access and describe their audience base. Your own impression of the channel’s community can add useful colour, but it should not be presented as a demographic measurement when it comes from a handful of comments.
Subscriber count is a channel relationship measure, not a promise that every subscriber will watch the next upload. YouTube’s unique viewers figure is an estimate of people watching within a selected period. Those measures can differ without either being wrong. Label the period and scope and preserve the estimated nature of the viewer figure. Avoid describing subscribers as guaranteed viewers, or describing a channel-wide audience estimate as the audience for one specific proposed placement.
Do not add unique viewers from several videos and call the result your distinct channel audience. One person can appear in more than one video’s audience; the channel estimate accounts for that overlap differently. The same caution applies when comparing audiences across formats or platforms: separate totals do not establish a deduplicated combined audience. If you cannot measure overlap, state the figures individually and leave the combined-person claim out of the kit.
Enter selected declarations into the optional fact rows with their source, reporting window and filter in the detail. The builder does not verify these values or connect to YouTube Studio. Keep original records privately and date your capture. If the audience data covers the whole channel while the samples concern storage tutorials only, say so. A clearly limited figure helps the buyer more than an impressive number whose relationship to the proposed work remains uncertain.
Separate the formats clearly
Give each placement its own evidence
Arrange relevant work, scoped audience declarations and a practical offer in a short YouTube partnership document.
Keep video performance separate from sponsor exposure
A video’s total activity does not tell you exactly how many people saw a particular product moment. A viewer may leave before the placement, skip part of it or replay a different passage. If you have relevant retention evidence, describe the observation at the actual moment and preserve its limits. Do not multiply unrelated headline figures and present the answer as verified sponsor reach. The kit should distinguish what was measured from what is merely an estimate or assumption.
Watch time describes time spent watching, while average view duration summarizes viewing under the selected metric’s definition. Neither is a count of buyers or a direct measure of attention to your sponsor. An average can also hide variation across a long episode. Use it to characterize viewing only when the scope is clear. For a placement proposal, the sample’s relevance and the planned product treatment may be more useful than another broad performance number.
Thumbnail impressions and impressions click-through rate concern a particular discovery pathway, not all views from every possible source. Do not label impressions as complete video reach or use click-through rate as proof that viewers watched a sponsor segment. If discovery evidence matters to the pitch, explain the relevant source and filter. Otherwise leave the detail in your reporting record and use the kit’s limited space to clarify the production and the audience question.
Choose an observation basis that suits the claim. Recent comparable tutorials may be more informative than one lifetime total from an unusually old upload. Identify the selected set and dates, and disclose exclusions that materially change the summary. The Social Media Report Builder is useful for a fuller account of your declared figures. Keep that analytical working document separate from the concise portfolio a buyer needs for an initial fit decision.
Translate the proposed placement into a production scope
Write the offer as a set of responsibilities rather than a vague package name. For the workshop channel, this might include concept planning, a product-use passage within a project, recording the necessary close views and editing the finished episode. State who publishes it and which additional assets, if any, are handed over. Do not imply that a short mention includes an extensive demonstration, a separate Short and a reusable footage library unless you intend to provide them.
Clarify what must happen before recording. Product arrival, dimensions, factual information and an agreed concept can affect whether the proposed demonstration is possible. A drawer accessory that does not fit your cabinet may require a different project rather than a simple wording change. Explain that dependency in the kit so the buyer can plan realistically. Keep detailed logistics in the later brief, but do not hide a condition that could prevent the whole concept from working.
Separate factual review from changes to the creative assignment. A buyer checking product information is different from replacing the episode’s central project after filming. State the intended review stage and leave room to agree revisions in the quote. Also identify whether reuse, paid distribution, exclusivity, alternate edits or raw footage need separate discussion. A clear introduction is not a substitute for agreed commercial terms, but it can prevent several predictable misunderstandings before negotiation begins.
Build the private quote around that scope using the Sponsorship Rate Calculator as an input, not a guarantee of market value or future performance. The media kit versus rate card guide helps separate the reusable portfolio from assignment-specific pricing. If wider account operations also need attention, assess them separately through the YouTube automation overview; they do not establish the value or measured results of a sponsorship.
Use the page limit to make each format legible
Plan a document in which the main format differences are visible at a glance. A six-page version could use a cover, audience summary, long-form work page, Shorts work page, services page and contact page. A creator offering only long-form work can remove the Shorts page. The maximum is six pages, not a target everyone needs to reach. Give the recipient enough evidence to judge the offer without turning a compact introduction into a complete channel archive.
The editor provides fixed cover, audience, work, services and contact layouts, not freeform desktop publishing. Reuse a work layout for the separate formats or reorder pages to match your pitch. Each page contains a heading, eyebrow, body, three optional label-value-detail rows and one optional image. Keep headings about the argument, such as a project demonstration or a standalone retrieval example, rather than making several pages carry an indistinguishable label such as my content.
Select local JPG, PNG or WebP stills that expose the actual product or arrangement. The builder does not place videos, animated GIFs, SVGs or remote image URLs in the artwork. A close view of the relevant drawer is often more informative than a thumbnail dominated by unrelated display text. Choose an image you have permission to show and explain the sample in readable page text instead of expecting a tiny analytics screenshot to carry the evidence.
Use the live preview to check whether the long-form and Shorts claims remain distinct. Shorten dense explanations before adding more facts; overflowing content causes export to be refused rather than silently cut off. Three curated palettes provide visual choices without changing the underlying document structure. If you need help narrowing the sample set, the work-sample selection guide offers a separate framework for relevance, provenance and clear contribution.
Deliver the artwork with a maintainable text record
Read the kit as someone who has never watched your channel. Can they tell which placement you offer, where the product belongs and which evidence supports that discussion? Check that a proposed idea is not written in the past tense and that no logo implies an unearned endorsement. Verify each stated timestamp against the original work. Remove private project notes and unapproved client details before exporting, even though the editing workflow itself takes place locally.
The browser-only builder has no login, API integration, upload service or autosave. Download the editable JSON project while working and before leaving the session. Keep a filename that distinguishes the recipient or brief and the revision, along with a private source record for the figures. JSON preserves the project for later edits; it is not a channel connection or a published portfolio address, and the tool does not host or send your presentation.
Export the complete PDF artwork when you need the whole document, or the current page as PNG for a single-page use. The PDF is rasterized and its text is not selectable. Its contact line is plain text rather than an interactive email or video link. Export the full TXT companion when someone needs readable, selectable wording or wants to review the evidence descriptions outside the visual layout. Inspect the actual exported files, not only the editor preview.
Send a short message that names the proposed placement and asks for the brief details needed to continue. Preserve the version you sent, then refresh the kit when relevant work, audience scope or services change. Keep old and new measurement periods distinguishable rather than blending them into a timeless headline. Questions about YouTube Media Kit
Should I combine Shorts and long-form figures in one total?
Prefer separate, clearly labelled summaries when the buyer is evaluating different placements. A combined activity total can hide the format mix and does not establish a distinct combined audience. Preserve the reporting dates, filters and exact metric names. For Shorts, do not treat views and engaged views as interchangeable. Explain what each selected figure contributes to the proposed collaboration.
Do video views show how many people watched my sponsor segment?
Not on their own. Whole-video activity does not establish viewing of a particular moment. Relevant retention observations can add context, but they need their own scope and limitations. Do not turn a general view total or average duration into a verified sponsor-exposure claim. Describe the placement and available evidence separately so the buyer can understand both.
Can a media kit focus on production rather than subscriber scale?
Yes. Explain the production service, show relevant work and state whether the assignment includes channel publication or assets for the buyer. Your research, presentation and editing can be assessed through samples without promising a large audience. Keep audience figures honest and limited to their actual scope, and agree permissions and deliverables separately for the specific project.
