Let the photo set the scene and the panel explain the offer

Check Solid Color Pairs for a Snapchat Story Offer

A bright event photo can establish the mood while making overlaid text difficult to read. Give the offer a solid, opaque panel with its own checked text colors instead of asking one foreground to work across every part of the photograph. This guide helps you prepare those solid pairs. It does not analyze the photo underneath them or certify a finished Story.

Corner Press, a fictional print studio, is preparing a Snapchat Story for a tote-printing pop-up: Saturday, 14:00-18:00, $15 for one tote and one print, while blanks last. Its tabletop photo contains pale fabric, dark ink and shiny tools. Open the Brand Color Palette and Contrast Checker to define a readable offer panel, then apply the values in your own artwork editor.

Write the pop-up offer before choosing its colors

Corner Press first writes the offer without styling: Print one tote, $15, Saturday 14:00-18:00, Corner Press studio, while blank totes last. These details answer different questions. The activity explains the experience, the price explains the cost, the time and location explain attendance, and the condition limits availability. Putting only $15 in a large bright badge would leave most of the visitor’s decision unresolved.

Clarify what the price includes before compressing the wording. In this example, it covers one supplied tote and one print. It does not mean unlimited prints, a private session or guaranteed stock until closing. The condition should remain close enough to the offer that viewers can connect them. Color hierarchy must not make a necessary limit practically disappear while the attractive headline remains dominant.

Arrange the copy in reading order: activity, included item and price, time, location, condition. A person seeing only this image should not need another frame to discover the basic deal. If all five pieces will not fit comfortably, shorten the activity description or reduce decorative elements before shrinking the attendance details. The palette can support a hierarchy, but it cannot solve a copy layout that asks too much of one panel.

Confirm the real date and address in the studio’s working brief. Saturday is sufficient for this fictional walkthrough, not for a reusable real announcement that could circulate later. Include the actual date in production. The checker does not verify opening hours, stock, prices or event availability; its role begins with the opaque colors used to present information the studio has already checked.

Prepare a second offer state if limited stock is central to the event. Corner Press drafts Blank totes sold out as a replacement message, not a tiny warning added beneath the original invitation. It can use the same white-on-near-black panel, with the yellow strip removed when there is no longer a price to promote. Keep the original date and location only if they remain relevant, and do not imply that visitors can still buy the exhausted item. This is a manual artwork and publishing decision: the checker does not monitor stock or replace a Story when availability changes. Agree who will make that revision before the pop-up opens.

Give the photo and offer separate jobs

The tabletop photo shows the material and process: an unprinted tote, a sample print and the studio workspace. It should remain recognizable, not become a vague dark backdrop. Set the explanatory text on a separate solid panel placed where it does not cover the main printed example. This creates a known background for the words while allowing the photograph to carry useful visual information.

Use an opaque near-black panel, #111111, with white #FFFFFF for the activity, time and location. A yellow price strip, #F6E05E, can sit within the composition with near-black text. These are manually chosen design values, not a claim about colors detected in the photo. Name them Offer panel, Panel text and Price highlight so their roles stay clear when the file changes hands.

Do not lower the panel opacity to make the photo show through unless you are prepared to leave this exact solid-pair workflow. A translucent black layer over pale fabric produces a different visible background from the same layer over dark ink. Selecting #111111 in the checker then describes the nominal color, not every resulting pixel under the text. A strong nominal pair cannot establish that the translucent version is readable.

A plain solid panel is also easier to revise. The photographer can replace the image without silently changing the surface behind the price and conditions. That does not remove the need to inspect placement, but it separates two decisions: choosing a useful photograph and selecting readable text/background pairs. For other overlay layouts, the text overlay contrast guide explains a related preparation problem.

Extract a starting palette without inspecting the scene

If the studio wants the panel to relate to an existing flyer, open that local PNG, JPEG or WebP and request two to eight colors. The tool processes the file in the browser; it does not connect to Snapchat, retrieve a Story or send the image to an AI service. Selecting Snapchat records the project’s context only. All nine platform labels use the same contrast math.

Extraction returns representative colors from a resized browser sample no larger than 128 pixels on either side. A small yellow ticket in the flyer may not become a distinct swatch, while several ink shades may combine into one representative. That is a useful starting inventory, not exact brand recognition, an exhaustive pixel list or a measurement of original-image area percentages. Enter approved opaque HEX values manually when the design requires an exact shade.

Choose the extraction matte explicitly. Fully transparent pixels are ignored; partially transparent pixels are composited against that opaque matte. The matte describes how the extraction sample is prepared, not a scan of the event photograph or a recommendation for the Story’s background. A transparent logo edge sampled on white may yield different representatives from the same edge sampled on near-black. Keep the chosen matte with the extraction record.

If only one unique visible representative remains, the tool adds a clearly identified manual black or white helper to keep the palette editable with at least two colors. Do not describe that helper as a color found in the flyer. Fully transparent input cannot produce a visible palette. Saved projects preserve colors and declared extraction metadata, not the original image, so keep the photo and flyer in the studio’s own files.

Fix the yellow price strip with two solid pairs

The first draft uses white price text on the pale yellow strip. Select white #FFFFFF as foreground and #F6E05E as background. The displayed ratio is approximately 1.334:1. This is below both the 4.5:1 AA normal-text threshold and the 3:1 AA large-text threshold. The cheerful palette does not make this particular combination a readable price treatment.

Keep the yellow strip but change its text to near-black #111111. The ratio becomes approximately 14.156:1. For the rest of the offer, white on the opaque near-black panel is approximately 18.883:1. The repair preserves a bright highlight without sacrificing the price. It also creates two clearly documented permissions rather than the vague instruction to use white text throughout the artwork.

The WCAG 2.2 text thresholds are AA normal 4.5:1 and large 3:1, with AAA normal 7:1 and large 4.5:1. The large-text reference is at least 24 CSS pixels regular or approximately 18.667 CSS pixels bold. Do not assume that a price designed at a large canvas size stays large in that sense after an image is resized. Use the normal-text target for the small attendance details and conditions.

Read the status rather than rounding the number yourself. Ratios display to three decimals, but threshold comparisons use unrounded values. A pair below 4.5 does not pass simply because its display could read 4.500. These results concern the selected opaque solid colors. They do not examine the photo, validate a video frame, predict responses to the offer or certify the complete Story’s accessibility.

Make the price readable on its own surface

Compare your offer panel pairs

Enter the opaque panel, highlight and text colors, then check the price and conditions before applying them over your event photo.

Check every short line, including the conditions

Enter a preview sample that resembles the actual information rather than a decorative slogan. For Corner Press, use Print one tote, $15 including one tote and one print, Saturday 14:00-18:00, and While blank totes last. The tool’s sample is a solid-pair study, not a reproduction of your finished Story layout. Still, realistic words make it easier to notice that the condition is longer than the price.

Check the activity, price, time, location and condition as separate uses even when several share a pair. The time may be smaller or use a lighter font weight than the headline. The location may wrap to a second line. The color ratio stays the same for identical HEX values, but the actual reading experience changes with typography and spacing. Record those layout decisions in the artwork brief rather than expecting the matrix to inspect them.

Avoid moving the condition onto the uncovered photograph to make the panel shorter. A white line that is readable over dark ink may cross pale fabric after a small crop change. The opaque panel should extend behind every essential word, including punctuation and the end of a wrapped address. Otherwise the solid background selected for the calculation no longer represents the whole text line.

If the price strip looks too dominant, adjust its area or the surrounding spacing before weakening its contrast. The important distinction is between prominence and legibility. A smaller, well-placed price can still be readable; a large low-contrast price can remain difficult to identify. Keep the offer’s inclusion line next to the price so the visual emphasis does not separate $15 from what the visitor actually receives.

Keep the panel opaque through layout changes

Review the full matrix for the final three-color palette. It contains nine foreground/background combinations, including the identical-color pairs at 1:1. The intended combinations are white on near-black, near-black on yellow and, if needed, yellow on near-black. White on yellow remains unsuitable for this text job. A palette does not need every possible combination to pass; it needs clear limits on the combinations the artwork will use.

Do not treat the strongest available pair as an instruction to make the whole design black and white. The yellow highlight can identify the offer while the photograph supplies the real scene. The matrix helps define where yellow is useful and where it is not. A role note such as Yellow is a fill, never a background for white attendance text prevents an easy mistake during a rushed date revision.

When the studio changes the highlight shade, rerun the pair before exporting a new reference. When it changes panel opacity in the artwork editor, recognize that the previous solid-pair result no longer describes the visible composite. The palette checker accepts opaque colors only; it does not evaluate shadows, glows, gradients, photographs or the changing background behind a moving overlay. Those are different visual conditions, not missing platform settings.

A manually edited extracted color is a design choice, not an unchanged image finding. Keep the edited extraction state in the saved project and use a revision name that distinguishes the approved panel from the original flyer sample. The transparent logo extraction guide is useful if a supplied studio mark has soft edges or a matte-dependent starting palette.

Review the actual Story artwork by hand

Apply the palette in the artwork editor, then inspect the complete image at a comfortable phone reading size. Check that the printed tote remains visible, the panel does not hide the example design and the offer can be read in its intended order. The checker does not compose this image, provide a native Snapchat preview or analyze the position of text against every object in the photograph.

Open the actual saved artwork, not only the editor’s enlarged canvas. Read the date, location and stock condition without zooming. Look for thin strokes, blurred edges and accidental overlaps. If the address wraps badly, reflow the panel rather than squeezing the whole line into a narrower space. A passing pair does not establish that the font, line length or final image encoding is suitable.

Check the final composition in your normal Snapchat preparation workflow before sharing. Interface elements, crops and viewing conditions need separate attention; the project selector does not simulate them. Keep important information comfortably within the composition and inspect the actual view available to you. This is a practical placement review, not a claim that one fixed margin or canvas dimension guarantees visibility in every interface.

If the event becomes a video, review the actual sequence separately. A panel that fades, moves or becomes translucent creates conditions beyond the selected opaque pair. The tool does not inspect frames, calculate photo-overlay contrast across time or assess how long viewers need to read the offer. Keep a concise written account of the event details in the studio’s publishing brief so later adaptations preserve the same price, inclusions and condition.

Deliver the colors without losing the event details

Export PNG when a colleague needs a visual palette and selected-pair proof. Use the PDF for the complete palette, matrix, method and declared extraction metadata. Its review pages are rasterized; CSV and JSON preserve selectable records for reuse. These exports do not contain the tabletop photograph or produce the finished Story artwork. The studio still needs its own image file, editable composition and approved event information.

Save JSON to reopen the palette and selected pair later, use CSS for color definitions and copy for a compact handoff. CSV keeps the calculated records available for another reviewer. Write the practical rule alongside the file: White text on the opaque near-black offer panel; near-black price on yellow; all conditions stay on the panel. This makes the next date change less likely to introduce an untested pairing.

The free checker has no autosave, persistent project storage or automatic import into SMTasker or Skye. Ordinary site analytics remain separate from local image processing. Download the revision you need before closing. Return to the free tools directory for other preparation jobs, but keep responsibility for the final event artwork with the person who can verify its offer and inspect the image.

For a separate recurring account task, SMTasker’s Snapchat automation supports Add Friends with configured sources, schedules, limits and activity review. It runs through a connected Android device with a Windows or macOS client. The palette checker does not hand this event to a Story publisher, send the artwork or turn a saved color project into an Add Friends setup.

Questions about Snapchat Story Contrast

Can I check white lettering directly on my event photo?

Not as a full-photo check here. Extraction supplies representative colors, not a contrast map beneath every letter. Select an opaque solid panel and its actual text color for an exact pair result. Inspect any text placed directly over the photo through a separate visual review instead of using one sampled swatch as proof.

Does choosing a matte add that background to my Story?

No. The matte is used when preparing partially transparent pixels for palette extraction. It neither edits the original file nor creates the offer panel in your artwork. Choose the panel’s actual opaque HEX value separately and apply it in the design editor where the Story composition is made.

Will a saved palette reopen the pop-up photograph?

No. JSON restores the colors, chosen pair, sample and declared extraction metadata when present, not the source image. Keep the photograph and editable artwork separately. The PNG and PDF exports are palette review materials, not backups of your Story composition or a way to publish it.
