Two Dates, One Clearly Defined Reddit List
Reddit Follower List Comparison with Prepared Usernames
A Reddit follower list comparison compares usernames in two records you already have. It does not discover followers or read your account. Open the follower and connection list checker, choose Reddit and snapshot comparison, and supply an earlier and a later list with the same meaning. You can then review which usernames appear in both records and which appear on only one side. This guide uses a fictional repair-project account to show preparation, cleanup, and a complete worked comparison without treating missing entries as confirmed unfollows.
Reddit profile follower snapshots need a clear label. People following a profile, people joining a subreddit, people commenting, and people upvoting are different groups. A username can belong to several groups, but one group cannot stand in for another. The checker matches prepared text locally, without a Reddit login, API connection, scraping, or profile requests. It cannot supply a missing historical list, unpack a native data request, or start account actions from its results.
Name the Reddit Group Before Comparing It
Following a person on Reddit concerns their profile. Reddit Help explains that following brings posts made directly to that profile into the home feed. Joining a subreddit concerns a community instead. Someone can join a repair community without following your repair account, and a profile follower need not join that community. Keep those relationships separate even when the account and community share a similar name.
Commenters are another set: usernames associated with comments in a defined discussion or collection of discussions. Upvoters are people taking a different action on content. Neither a comment nor an upvote establishes a profile follow. A post score is not a username roster, and the checker cannot turn it into one. Do not build an alleged follower list from comment authors or guesses about who voted.
Community statistics also need their own labels. Reddit Help describes weekly visitors and weekly contributions as activity measures, distinct from the former community member count. None of those totals supplies the identities needed for this comparison. If your only evidence is a number on a community page, retain it as an aggregate measure rather than inventing enough usernames to make a list match that number.
For this example, an account sharing small electronics repair notes keeps two prepared records of the profile follower usernames it could document. The owner labels both as observed profile follower records, not guaranteed complete exports. A separate commenter worksheet stays separate. If your records instead cover commenters in selected discussions, name that scope explicitly and use the same selection rule at both dates. Selecting Reddit does not classify the records for you.
Establish What Each Saved Record Actually Contains
Reddit Help describes viewing your own followers from your profile: on the website, use the follower number; in the app, open your profile and tap the follower count. That describes an account interface, not a downloadable complete follower file. The free checker does not open that interface for you. Work from records you can genuinely identify, and note any uncertainty about how much of the list was visible.
Reddit also offers an account data request. Its Help article explains requesting and receiving account data, but does not promise a complete follower username export. Inspect any material you already receive before deciding whether it fits your question. The checker has no native Reddit data-request parser. A file called JSON or CSV is not automatically suitable merely because it came from an official download.
Beside each snapshot, record the account username, observation date, time zone, list type, and collection method. Add a note if the record is partial or collection was interrupted. Two files downloaded on different days may describe the same observation, while two screenshots taken on one day do not create a historical baseline. Use the date represented by the record, not a convenient date added during file preparation.
If you have only a later record, begin a baseline rather than claiming to reconstruct an earlier one. If the later source is unavailable, leave the comparison unfinished. A blank input is not evidence of zero followers. The intentionally empty option is for a collection you have genuinely established as empty, not for an export failure, an inaccessible view, or a list you have not yet prepared.
Use Usernames and Exact Profile Addresses
Accepted prepared forms include RepairPilot, u/RepairPilot, and /u/RepairPilot. Recognized profile addresses include https://www.reddit.com/user/RepairPilot/ and https://reddit.com/u/RepairPilot/. The supported host forms also include m.reddit.com, old.reddit.com, and new.reddit.com. These examples are text, not invitations for the checker to visit a profile. Their purpose is to supply a username key that can be compared with the other source.
Use an exact profile path, not a community address, post permalink, comment link, or share link. A path beginning with r/ identifies a subreddit rather than a user. A profile address with extra content path segments is not the supported profile input either. When a source contains discussion links, prepare its explicit author username field separately; do not guess an author from words in a post title.
Reject [deleted] and [removed] entirely as identities. They are placeholders, not distinct usernames to include in a follower total. Ten rows carrying the same placeholder do not document ten identifiable accounts or one shared account. Do not strip the brackets and pretend the remaining word is the missing username. Keep unresolved records outside the identity list, with a preparation note if their number affects your coverage.
Canonical output uses u/username, with case normalized for matching. Thus RepairPilot and u/repairpilot match as the same prepared key. That is text cleanup, not profile confirmation. Reddit says finalized usernames cannot change, including capitalization; display names can be edited. Use the username, not that display label. The checker does not establish who owns a username, whether a profile exists, or how a t2_ account ID maps to it.
Prepare a Clear Identity Column Locally
A useful preparation sheet has separate columns for Username, Profile URL, Observed date, List type, and Note. Choose either the Username column or a column of supported exact Profile URL values as the identity input. Select that column explicitly in the CSV controls. Do not select a date, display name, comment body, or mixed notes column. Other fields help your own review but do not become part of the matching key.
For a short record, paste one identifier per line or prepare a TXT file. CSV works well when your source needs several descriptive columns. Prepared JSON must be an array of identifier strings, such as ["RepairPilot","u/FixLog"], not an account archive containing nested categories. Remove unrelated records during preparation. ZIP archives and saved HTML pages are not supported inputs, and there is no automatic archive extraction step.
Several supported files can contribute to one source when they cover the same account, date, and list definition. Keep their identity column headers consistent if using CSV. Do not mix older and newer chunks inside one side or append a commenter file to a follower file. The checker removes duplicate keys within a source, but that cannot repair a source whose files represent different groups or observation dates.
The limits are 5 MB per file, 10 MB per source, and 100,000 candidate rows per source. These are processing limits, not claims about Reddit audience size. Check duplicate and invalid counts before reading the differences. Repeated usernames count once; rejected values count toward cleanup, not valid identities. Preserve the original records separately so you can explain exactly what was removed or corrected without rewriting your historical evidence.
Your Records, Compared Locally
Check Two Prepared Reddit User Lists
Choose the same list type for both dates, select the identity column, and review the cleaned username groups.
Work Through the Repair Account Example
The repair-project account has an observed profile follower record dated September 3 and another dated October 1. The earlier input contains 153 candidate rows. Seven are extra occurrences of already listed usernames, and six are invalid: two placeholder rows, one subreddit entry, one post link, one comment link, and one share link. After cleanup, 153 minus 7 minus 6 leaves 140 distinct valid usernames for the earlier source.
The later input has 168 candidate rows, eight duplicate occurrences, and five invalid entries. Those five are a display name containing spaces, a subreddit URL, a profile URL with an extra comments path, and the two placeholder values. The valid unique total is 168 minus 8 minus 5, or 155. Raw rows increased by 15 here, but use the cleaned totals rather than assuming raw counts always describe audience movement.
Place September 3 in Earlier list and October 1 in Later list, with Reddit and snapshot comparison selected. Suppose 128 usernames occur in both. Earlier-only usernames total 140 minus 128, or 12; later-only usernames total 155 minus 128, or 27. Reconcile both sides: 128 plus 12 equals 140, and 128 plus 27 equals 155. The groups describe prepared usernames, not verified people or individual follow actions.
Net change is 27 minus 12, or 15 usernames. Relative to the earlier 140, that is approximately 10.71%. There are 167 usernames across the combined records: 128 shared plus 12 absent plus 27 added. The 39 usernames found on only one side are not 39 confirmed relationship events. Earlier-list overlap is 128 divided by 140, approximately 91.43%; call it recorded overlap rather than continuous follower retention.
Investigate Input Differences Before Giving Them a Cause
Read Absent from later list literally: a valid earlier key has no match in the later supplied record. The result does not confirm an unfollow, deletion, block, or other account event. It cannot tell you who acted or when. An incomplete observation or preparation error can produce the same bucket as a genuine change in the underlying group. Leave the cause unknown unless separate evidence supports a specific explanation.
For the repair account, review the 12 absent keys against the collection notes first. Was the same account selected? Were all later files included? Did both CSV sources use the username column? If the later sheet accidentally used display names, correct that field and rerun the comparison. Keep a note describing the correction; do not report the first result as a historical event that was later reversed.
Added to later list means a key occurs later but not earlier. It does not establish the exact date someone followed or prove that a repair tutorial attracted them. Someone may already have been present but absent from a partial earlier record. A username present in both records likewise says nothing about intermediate states. Endpoint observations cannot show every appearance and disappearance during the period between the two dates.
Do not merge different usernames merely because they use similar avatars, display names, or repair interests. Two accounts controlled by one person are still two username keys in this comparison. Nor should you edit a later name to force a match with an earlier one. The guide to comparing saved follower snapshots explains the broader method when you need to document uncertainty alongside a list difference.
Review and Export the Right Result
Start with one bucket and search for a username you need to review. Results use 50-row pagination, while the displayed totals describe the full comparison. Sorting helps locate keys; it does not rank followers by activity, loyalty, or interest in your project. A shortened visible page is not the entire list. Before sharing a number, confirm whether you mean the full bucket or the subset matching your current search.
Copy uses the selected group and search, so clear the search when you need every username in that group. The CSV contains all categorized valid identities from the comparison, not just the visible page or selected search. Save it when you need the earlier-only, shared, and later-only keys together. Its categories remain list observations; changing a spreadsheet column title to Unfollowers would not make that stronger claim accurate.
The PDF is an aggregate report with context, cleanup counts, optional dates, and the three-group chart. It excludes raw usernames and carries the exact checker URL in its footer. Choose it when a colleague needs the figures without the identity rows. For the repair account, the chart totals 167 keys across the combined records, not 167 later followers. The later source has 155 distinct valid usernames.
The lists are processed locally without uploading them, and the checker does not store a history for your next visit. Keep the files and any reports you need in your own records. A useful handover note states the account, list definition, dates, coverage gaps, and corrections made. After changing inputs, run the comparison again before exporting. A report from the previous preparation should not stand in for the corrected result.
Repeat the Review Without Turning It into Automation
Choose a repeatable observation schedule that suits the record you can actually maintain. Keep the account, collection scope, identity field, and time zone consistent. If a method changes, document that change before comparing with the old baseline. More complete collection may add usernames without any new follows. Retain partial-list wording until you have evidence for broader coverage, even when the totals happen to match a number shown on Reddit.
Use the follower growth calculator for a separate calculation based on comparable totals, making clear whether they are observed list totals or another measure. It cannot explain why the repair account gained a net 15 usernames. For questions about the account presentation, the social media profile audit supports a separate self-assessment. Neither task requires treating all new commenters, visitors, or voters as followers.
The SMTasker Reddit automation page describes the current Reddit actions: Upvote, Upvote Comments, and Comment. There is no Reddit follow tool in this workflow. SMTasker uses the native Reddit Android app with a Windows or macOS client; the free checker remains a separate browser comparison. Its CSV does not automatically import into SMTasker, queue account actions, or turn absent usernames into a follow or unfollow task.
Finish the review with a statement you can support: the two prepared records contain 128 shared usernames, 12 absent later, and 27 added later. Keep questions about participation, profile presentation, and account routines in their own records. When the next snapshot is ready, reuse the preparation method and reconcile the cleanup again. The value is a comparison you can explain and repeat, not a list of presumed motives attached to unfamiliar usernames.
Questions about Reddit User Lists
Does a Reddit data request give me a complete follower file for this checker?
Do not assume that it does. Reddit Help explains account data requests without promising a complete follower username export. Inspect what your own records actually contain, then prepare a supported username list or identity column. The checker does not unpack the native request archive or find hidden follower records. If you cannot establish comparable earlier and later lists, save a clearly labeled baseline instead of treating unavailable data as an empty source.
Can I compare subreddit commenters with my profile followers?
Those are different groups, so their difference would not show who followed or unfollowed your profile. For a dated snapshot review, compare the same list type, account, and scope on both sides. Commenter records can be compared as commenter records if their selection rule stays consistent. Community members and upvoters remain separate too. No result here discovers voters, proves community membership, or converts a comment author into a profile follower.
Do capitalization changes and deleted placeholders affect the totals?
Case normalization makes supported forms of the same username match; it does not check that the profile is real or active. Duplicate normalized keys within a source count once. The exact placeholders [deleted] and [removed] are rejected as identities and excluded from valid unique totals entirely. Keep their rejected-row count in your preparation notes, but do not count each occurrence as a missing person or merge all occurrences into one account.
