Instagram DM Automation with AI: Welcome New Followers

Get set for this lesson

This is a Skye example for welcoming new Instagram followers. The goal is one relevant, brief message per person, with a neutral fallback when a profile offers no useful public context.

What happens in the video

Ask Skye for a Contact workflow

The presenter opens a new Skye chat, selects an AI provider, and requests a welcome message for new followers of a specific Instagram account. The brief asks for one or two friendly sentences, optional use of a name or bio detail, no invented interests, no link or sales pitch, and no repeat contact.

Review the plan and permission

Skye checks the account and tool, including whether a similarly named campaign already exists. It proposes a Contact automation; the interface asks for permission before Apply saves anything. The user reviews sources, message rules, limits, and schedule first.

Inspect Sources and Settings

The saved Sources tab enables “send message to new followers”; the specific-users and reply paths are off in the example. Settings uses 1–2 messages per hour and 3–5 per day, weekday daytime hours, and no automatic increase. Those numbers are the demo’s choices, not universal recommendations.

Check the message instruction

The message field uses an AI prompt with variables such as Full Name and Bio. It asks for at most one relevant question and a neutral response when profile data are empty. The “skip already contacted” behavior is enabled, which helps avoid sending a second welcome to the same person.

Preview and start deliberately

Skye gives fictional example messages for profiles such as a trail runner, a workout account, and an empty bio. The presenter then reviews the stopped campaign before changing its status. Skye configures the tool; a separately configured AI provider generates the message at runtime, so inspect both connections.

WATCH FOR THESE DETAILS

Check this as you follow along

  • Verify the new-follower source and the skip-already-contacted option.
  • Keep optional personalization grounded in the visible profile rather than invented facts.
  • Check the neutral fallback for an empty bio.
  • Review provider, timezone, and message limits before enabling the campaign.
  • Watch early Results and actual inbox behavior for duplicates or awkward wording.

AFTER WATCHING

Put this into practice

A welcome message should feel useful to the recipient, not like an unsolicited sales sequence. Revise the prompt if the first outputs are too generic or too personal, and pause the tool while changing its rules.
