BEFORE YOU PRESS PLAY
Get set for this lesson
Create your SMTasker account first, then sign in on the Mac you intend to use with the Android phone. The macOS client is downloaded from inside the dashboard.
FOLLOW THE WALKTHROUGH
What happens in the video
Download and install the Mac client
The dashboard download control selects the macOS .dmg in this recording. Open the disk image and drag the SMTasker app into Applications. Launch it from Applications or Spotlight. macOS may show a first-open confirmation; verify the app came from your own dashboard before accepting it.
Pair the Mac with the dashboard
The client displays a Connect this Mac badge. Back in the browser dashboard, the presenter selects Connect Client from the lower bar. The browser asks permission to open SMTasker; approving that handoff pairs the local app with the signed-in workspace.
Wait for the tools and session
After pairing, the client installs or prepares the Android and background tools it needs. The video waits for this process and then checks that the client shows Active while the dashboard reports an active session. That confirmation is the Mac-side checkpoint before attaching the phone.
Keep the app available
Unlike the Windows version, the Mac client shown here has no system tray icon. Keep the application open in the Dock; minimizing it is fine, but quitting it or shutting down the Mac pauses device actions. Preferences includes Run app at System Startup for users who want it available after login.
WATCH FOR THESE DETAILS
Check this as you follow along
- The .dmg comes from your signed-in account, not a third-party mirror.
- Both the Mac client and dashboard should show an active connection after pairing.
- Do not mistake a minimized app for a quit app; check its Dock indicator.
- A paired Mac still needs the separate Android USB preparation and authorization.
AFTER WATCHING
Put this into practice
Continue with the Android preparation and connection lessons. If Connect Client does not open the Mac app, check the browser permission prompt and whether the client was installed in Applications.
